Paul Gakarau
Paul Gakarau is an educator, languages and communication specialist, and early-stage business coach with over twenty years of combined experience in translation, interpretation, business coaching, teaching and evaluation. Fluent in English, French, and Kiswahili, he combines his expertise in languages with a strong grasp of the startup process — from ideation and business model generation to building and testing minimum viable products using the build-measure-learn cycle.
Paul has taught French and English at leading institutions, including Strathmore University, United States International University–Africa, Brookhouse International School, and The Language Center. His teaching approach emphasizes learner-centered methods and innovative tools such as the Iterative Noticing-Based French Writing Improvement Cycle, which he designed and tested with measurable results. Beyond classroom instruction, he has facilitated international trade missions in Francophone Africa, designed impactful training programs, such as the 12-week Startup Accelerator for founders, and helped transform businesses from loss-making to profitable entities through strategic management and coaching.
As a writer and translator, Paul has contributed articles, blogs, and features for outlets such as the Daily Nation, Revival Springs Magazine, and Anexuss Africa, where he also crafts business communication strategies and digital content. His translation and interpretation portfolio includes work with the United Nations, Fairtrade Africa, and African Virtual University, covering high-level conferences, educational content, and communication materials.
Academically, Paul holds a postgraduate qualification in teaching French as a Foreign Language from Université de Rouen, France and a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature from Kenyatta University. He is currently advancing his expertise with a Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute in Ireland, covering AI-driven digital marketing, SEO, content marketing, and analytics. His career reflects a unique blend of education, language expertise, strategic business coaching, and digital communication, making him well-positioned to support organizations and professionals operating across cultures, markets, and industries.
